Residents from Gudimangalam near Udumalpet petition Collector over drinking water scarcity

Due to the absence of proper water supply for the past one month, the residents of Bamboothozhuvu, Anikadavu, Vagathozhuvu and Kosavampalayam areas of Gudimangalam Union submitted a memorandum to the Tirupur Collector urging him to take steps to help them overcome the issue of water scarcity in their area.

Tirupur: A petition was submitted to the Tirupur Collectorate by the public urging the Collector S Vineeth to take steps to help them overcome the issue of drinking water scarcity in the areas under Gudimangalam Union near Udumalpet.

The petitioners were residents of Moongilthozhuvu, Anikadavu, Vagathozhuvu and Kosavampalayam areas of Gudimangalam Union of Udumalai assembly constituency in Tirupur district.

"There has been a shortage of drinking water in our area for the last 30 days. We have informed the Assistant Engineer of The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and the Block Development Officer, but no action has been taken thus far. They said that there was not enough money to repair the electric motor in the lower tank of Thirumoorthy Hills.

In our earlier appeal to the Collector, we were assured that the problem of drinking water scarcity will be addressed. Till date, there has been no action from any of the Government officials. Due to the onset of summer, steps should be taken to address the scarcity of drinking water for the people in the above panchayats," stated the petitioners.
