Farmers in Pollachi should be allowed to take Toddy in Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, the farmers' union gathered at the Pollachi taluk police station and staged a demonstration requesting authorization to take toddy. A tense situation arose when a farmer fainted at the police station..

Coimbatore: Farmers have been requesting with the Tamil Nadu government to repeal the state's toddy ban and allow them to acquire it. In this scenario, the police have opened an investigation and are taking action by arresting persons who sell toddy from coconut trees in the Pollachi area.

Protesting this and demanding the right to take toddy in Tamil Nadu, the Farmers' Association of Tamil Nadu caste and non-religious parties gathered and staged a protest at the Pollachi taluk police station. They also raised slogans in order to press their demands.

Following this, the farmers were stopped and peace discussions were held. When a farmer fainted at the police station, the officers rescued him and drove him to the Pollachi government hospital in a police patrol van.

The police also arrested 12 farmers, including two women, who were protesting without permission at the police station.

"We have been protesting for the right to die since 2009." Permission is allowed to take toddy in states such as Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala. It is painful not to grant permission for the sale of Toddy that are not harmful to the body after granting licence to TASMAC shops in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Special Cell received a petition requesting permission to take toddy, but no action was done. Farmers stated The chief minister, who claims to be the chief minister of the farmers, to ensure the farmers' livelihood, actions should be made to grant them permission to take toddy immediately.
