Jewellery, cash looted by breaking the lock of three houses in a row near Dharapuram - Two arrested

Police arrested two persons for breaking the locks of three houses in broad daylight near Dharapuram and robbing them of jewellery and cash. They produced them before a court and sent them to jail. The police are on the lookout for their accomplice who is involved in various other cases.


Tirupur: Police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies at Dharapuram in Tirupur district.

The miscreants broke open the doors of the house of Chellathurai in Ashok Nagar on the outskirts of Dharapuram, jeevanandam, a retired government employee in Ganapathy Nagar and thangavel's house in Jyothi Nagar.

A team led by Dharapuram police inspector Jeevanandam, comprising Kalaiselvan, Venkatesan, Velumani and Balasubramani, conducted a vehicle checking at dharapuram government industrial training institute and bypass road.

At that time, two youths on a two-wheeler from Tirupur were stopped and interrogated. It was revealed that both of them had taken a rented house in Pon Nagar area of Tiruppur and were staying there.

They, along with two other accomplices, searched the locked houses from morning to afternoon in Dharapuram area and broke open the door and looted gold ornaments, cash and other items from the house.

During the investigation, it was found that Muhammed Rafiq (29), son of Kajamaideen, a native of Udumalpet, who was staying as a group of four, was already involved in nine cases.

It was also revealed that he was arrested by the Udumalpet police in connection with a robbery case in Udumalpet and was jailed two days ago.

The arrested have been identified as Imran (34), son of Abdul Quddus of Thalapathi in Kunnathur and Kaviyarasan (24), son of Venkatraman of Dharmapuri.



On the basis of information from Kaviyarasan and Imran, who were arrested by the police while their other accomplice is absconding, police seized 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 70,000 in cash and a mobile phone and a two-wheeler from their possession.



A case has been registered against the two arrested and they were produced before the Dharapuram Criminal Court. The two were sent to jail after Judge Babu, who investigated the case, ordered 15-day custody of the two arrested accused. Mubarak Ali, municipal sanitation workers and the general public of Anna Nagar area were among those who participated.
