Exploring Pollachi’s coconut Legacy: A call for making CDB schemes accessible in Tamil

Pollachi in Tamil Nadu is world-renowned for its coconuts. Coconut development board schemes are not available in Tamil,if the associated schemes are made available in Tamil the farmers from this region will gain access to get important information.

Coimbatore: Shanmuga Sundaram, a member of parliament from the Pollachi constituency, had taken the initiative to propose that the Coconut development board (CDB) website schemes in Tamil be implemented.

Pollachi in Tamil Nadu is world famous for its coconuts, and Tamil Nadu in general is a major contributor to the country's coconut sector. Despite this, the Coconut Development Board's website, applications, and details of its schemes are not accessible in Tamil, despite being available in six regional languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and others.

This disadvantages Tamil Nadu coconut farmers because they cannot obtain the necessary information in their mother tongue and are unable to take advantage of government schemes and services.

It is urgent to resolve this problem and issue the required orders for the use of Tamil in Coconut Development Board schemes, applications, and website.

He requests that the CDB's chief executive visit Pollachi in April and host a meeting with farmers, traders, value-added product manufacturers, and all stakeholders in the coconut farming community. This study tour will assist the Coconut Development Board in implementing schemes and measures for the benefit of coconut farmers.
