In Valparai, a demonstration was held demanding that the municipal administration should carry out the development works, provide necessary protective equipment to the sanitation workers and make them permanent and give pay hikes.
Coimbatore: A protest was held at Valparai in Coimbatore district on Monday by trade union leaders demanding that the municipality should carry out development works that are useful to the general public.
The protest was led by AITUC general secretary Mohan in front of Valparai old bus stand. It was urged that sanitation workers should be made permanent by providing necessary protective equipment and pay should be increased.
Moreover, the work of the boat house and botanical garden, which was developed at an estimated cost of several crores of rupees, should be completed and provided for the use of the public and tourists. It was also urged through the demonstration that necessary works should be done by the municipality in the residential area of the workers who are deducting the industrial tax.
