More than 50 milk producers from villages including Idikarai Chennamanaickenpalayam, Govinda Nayakanpalayam and Maniyakarampalayam in the vicinity of Idikarai sell milk in the morning and evening hours.

It opens at 6.30 a.m. and sells around 350 litres of milk a day in the cooperative society. The milk obtained through the co-operative society is bought by the people of the area and the remaining milk is sent to Aavin.

In this situation, the farmers who are selling milk in the Idikarai Milk Producers' Co-operative Society, who are selling milk in the Idikarai Milk Producers' Co-operative Society, staged a protest today, demanding that the procurement price of milk should be increased due to the increase in the procurement price of milk due to the increase in the price of cake, green fodder, men's wages etc. required for the maintenance of the cows. This led to a commotion in the area.

"We are not able to maintain the milk producers as the labour required to take care of the cows, cake, cow's fodder, medical expenses, etc., have gone up drastically and the milk price offered by the cooperative society is not affordable.

Therefore, the price of milk should be increased. The government should provide credit facilities through banks, they said.

Due to this sudden strike by the milk producers, the women and the general public who had come to buy milk in the co-operative society returned disappointed as they did not get the milk.

If a woman is protesting like this, she should declare in advance that we have children and old people. There was tension for some time as they got into an argument asking where to go for Milk.
