Banners, cut-outs, flex boards should not be put up for any programmes attended by DMK president, ministers and party leaders: R S Bharathi, the organising secretary of DMK, said that strict action will be taken against those found violating the order. It didn't mention anything about regular political posters defacing the city.


Chennai: DMK organising secretary R S Bharathi has announced a ban on putting up banners and cut-outs at DMK programmes.

In a statement, DMK organising secretary R S Bharathi said party workers should not put up banners, cut-outs, flex boards for any programmes attended by the party president, ministers, party leaders, causing inconvenience to the public and disrupting traffic.

One or two banners at the venue of a public meeting or event may be placed safely after obtaining proper permission for publicity and not on the road and along the street causing a disaster to all motorists and people, including two-wheelers.

Strict action will be taken against those who violate this advisory, it said.

DMK members have been constantly defacing cities across TN with posters, banners and flex boards. Our own Avinashi Road flyover were constantly bombarded with ugly political posters until the visit of President Murmu for Mahashivarathri in Isha. This was after the CCMC Commissioner had passed an order not to do so. In the face of all these transgressions, it is to be seen if the DMK party members will follow these orders.
