Auto drivers attack law student in Coimbatore - Students petition to Police Commissioner

A law student was attacked by auto drivers near Coimbatore railway station. The students of the law college have lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner.


Coimbatore: Students of a law college have lodged a complaint with the police commissioner seeking action against the auto drivers who assaulted a law student near coimbatore railway station.

Raja hails from Dharmapuri district. He is a final year student of the Government Law College on Marudhamalai Road and is staying in Vadavalli area of Coimbatore. He is currently driving a two-wheeler taxi (Rapido) part-time for earnings.

Last night, when he came to call a customer near Coimbatore railway station, it is learnt that some of the auto drivers present there had an argument with Raja by using inappropriate words. At one point, the auto drivers surrounded Raja and allegedly attacked him. Raja, a law student, has been admitted to a government hospital in Coimbatore for treatment.



More than 60 students of a law college demanded action against the auto drivers who attacked a law student. They submitted a petition to Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan.

The Commissioner of Police said that he will examine the CCTV footage and take appropriate action.
