Fire breaks out at a garbage dump near Senkaliappan Nagar

The residents of the area have demanded that the Corporation should pay extra attention to facilitate proper disposal of garbage and maintain hygiene.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore A major fire broke out in a garbage dump in Senkaliappan Nagar area leaving the whole area engulfed in black smoke.



Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames.



There was a garbage dump near the railway bridge in Senkaliappan Nagar, and people often callously discard cigarettes near the dump.



In other cases, some peopledeliberately set fire to the garbage dumps. As the summer season is approaching the residents haveappealed to the authorities to augment garbage disposal in the area, failing which it may lead to frequent fires.
