Tamil Nadu cable TV operators protest in Coimbatore over TRAI tariff hike allegedly in favour of ‘corporates’

The Tamil Nadu Cable TV Operators' Welfare Association staged a protest in Coimbatore against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). They alleged that TRAI was acting in favour of corporate bosses without considering the public interest.

Coimbatore: The National Tariff Policy-III, implemented by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), has resulted in an increase in tariff rates on paid channels.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Operators Welfare Association is holding protests across Tamil Nadu against the TRAI and demanding that the tariff be restricted.

As part of this, a protest was held in front of the South Tahsildar's office in Coimbatore.

Led by Coimbatore district in-charge Sivakumar, more than 100 people from the association participated in the protest and raised slogans demanding control over the fee hike and condemning the TRAI.

It was urged at the protest that TRAI, without considering the public interest, has implemented this new tariff policy in favour of the corporate capitalists and increased the price of paid channels and caused inconvenience to the general public and the hike should be controlled immediately.
