Nilgiris District Consumer Redressal Forum orders compensation of Rs.25,000 to the wronged TNSTC passenger

The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris District Consumer Redressal Forum has ordered a compensation of Rs 25,000 to the affected person Sekhar, a passenger who was charged a fine of Rs 500 by mistake for not buying a ticket

Sekhar, a retired bank manager from Burnhill in Ooty, had come to Ooty from Coimbatore in a TNSTCbus on June 10 last year.

The ticket Inspector, who boarded the bus in the Charring cross area, checked the tickets from the passengers

Upset over this, Sekhar filed a case with the District Consumer Redressal Forum in Ooty.



The Nilgiris Consumer court has directed the Manager of the Nilgiris District TNSTC to refund Rs 500 collected from the victim and also slappedRs 3,000 as court expenses and Rs 25,000 as compensation for causing mental agony to the passenger..
