Woman devotee dies, another injured as speeding vehicle hit them near Udumalpet

While Nirmala (52), a Palani padayatri died on the spot, Selvarani (40), who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.



Tirupur: A woman devotee was killed on the spot and another sustained serious injuries when a speeding vehicle mowed them down near Udumalpet in Tirupur district when they were proceeding on a padayatra to Palani temple.

More than 15 persons, including women from Coimbatore district, have gone on a padayatra to Palani Murugan temple. When they were walking from Udumalpet to Palani at around 3 am a speeding vehicle hit them.



While Nirmala (52) died on the spot. Selvarani (40), who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
