Rename Ramanathapuram flyover after Kalaignar! Illegal Posters put up in Coimbatore!

DMK’s Raghunath has put up posters in Coimbatore demanding that the flyover at Ramanathapuram be named after the late Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi despite it being built during AIADMK period.

Coimbatore: Posters have been put up in Coimbatore demanding that the Ramanathapuram flyover be named after former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

The ₹253-crore flyover on the Coimbatore-Trichy road at Ramanathapuram was opened to public use on June 11.

Since the flyover has not been given any name, posters have now been put up in the area demanding that it be renamed as "Kalaignar's Tamil Nadu Flyover". The poster was pasted by Race Course Raghunath of the DMK.

He said the late former chief minister Kalaignar lived in Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram and Singanallur areas.

It was here that dialogues for films and political initiatives began when he was here. From Ramanathapuram to Singanallur was the way he usually walked.

He has also given various schemes to Coimbatore when he was the Chief Minister. Therefore, he requested that the flyover that has been constructed in this area where he now lived should be named after Kalaignar.

It is to be noted that the flyovers currently being built or recently opened in Coimbatore on all major roads were initiated by AIADMK government in the last two years of their regime.
