Coimbatore Corporation which collected 181 percent more than the target set for 'Flag Day' collections was presented an award at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai by the TN Governor R N Ravi.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi presented an award to the Coimbatore Corporation at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai for collecting more than what was fixed as target for the 'Flag Day' collection. Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Prathap received the award from the Governor.
Flag Day is observed on December 7 every year to protect the interests of the tri-services personnel. Funds are collected from the public and Government officials for the welfare of the soldiers. Awards are also presented to the Best District Administration and Best Municipal Corporation Administration on Republic Day at the Raj Bhavan.
Accordingly, the Coimbatore Corporation was allotted a target of Rs. 15,40,000. However, Rs.43,22,820 had been collected over and above the stipulated target for the 'Flag Day Fund.'
The funds collected is said to be 181% more than the target set. Hence, the Coimbatore Corporation Administration was presented the award for the highest collection of funds.
