Fake currency racket busted, Man held near Udumalapet with Rs.1.75 lakhs fake currency notes

The Kerala Police have arrested a man for allegedly printing and distributing fake currency notes from a rented house near Udumalpet. Fake currency notes of Rs 1,78,000 were also seized from his possession.


Tirupur: A special team led by Inspector Murugan of Maraiyur Police station in Kerala raided at the residence of 39-year-old Prabhu in Madathukulam- Kolumam near Udumalpet and arrested him for allegedly printing and distributing fake currency notes.

The raid which was carried out with the active cooperation of Tamil Nadu Police revealed a deep net work of many persons involved in the fake currency racket.



When the Tamil Nadu police investigated the matter further, it was revealed that Azhagar, a native of Chanarpatti in Dindigul district, was arrested last week for possessing fake currency notes in Kerala and as per the information provided by him the police apprehended one Hakheem involved in the fake currency racket from Kumaralingam area near Tirupur.

As per the information given by Hakeem, Kerala Police arrested Prabhu, a native of Gudalur in Theni district, who had rented a house for to print fake currency near Udumalapet and impersonated himself as a Forest department official.



During his interrogation, fake notes to the tune of Rs 1,78,000 in Rs 500 denomination were seized from his house including machines used to print the counterfeit currency.

According to Police, five persons have already been arrested and lodged in a Kerala jail in connection with the fake currency racket.



Later, the Kerala police along with Hakeem and Prabhu, who were arrested, proceeded to Theni to conduct further investigations in the fake currency racket.
