Viral CCTV footage of leopard entering residential area in Valparai to prey on pets sets social media abuzz

The CCTV footage of a leopard entering a residential area in Valparai in Coimbatore district and carrying away a cat as its prey after killing it has gone viral on social media.



Tirupur: A video of a leopard killing a cat and carrying it away from a residential area in Valparai has gone viral on social media. The CCTV camera in the area captured the leopard movement.

The movement of wild animals like elephant, tiger, leopard, bison, bear etc is on the rise in estate areas in and around residential areas in Valparai in Coimbatore district.



The leopards especially hunt for prey like dogs, cats, goats and chicken.

In this case, neighbours were searching for a pet cat that Amaresh had kept in his house in the Valparai Co-operative Colony area for two days.



After examining the CCTV camera installed in a nearby house in the neighbourhood, the locals were shocked to see a leopard entering Amareh's house premises and killing the cat, as well as carrying it away.

The public who are in constant fear of leopards straying into their residential areas have demanded that the Forest Department provide security and prevent leopards from entering their residential areas.
