Tourists flock to Ooty in spite of severe cold weather conditions in Ooty

Ooty recorded a maximum of 22.5°C and a minimum of 12.3°C. A few places in the outskirts of Ooty also recorded temperatures below 10°C during the night. Ooty in the Nilgiris district recorded a temperature of up to 10 degrees Celsius. Despite the severe cold, tourists are eagerly enjoying the tourist spots.



The Nilgiris: Tourist footfall in Ooty increased in the past week even as schools in the State closed for winter holidays.



Due to the influx of tourists, major tourist destinations in Ooty such as the Boat House, Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Pykara, Sixth Mile, and Dodabetta were over crowded.

Though winter in Ooty, this year, is marked with heavy fog and intermittent rains accompanied by severe cold conditions, tourists from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala seemed to enjoy the fog and drizzle in the early morning hours, thronging the Botanical Garden and Rose Park.
