BJP farmers' wing demands distribution of sugarcane and jaggery in the Pongal gift hamper, submits petition to collector

The BJP's farmers' wing has submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector demanding that the Tamil Nadu government should include sugarcane, jaggery and coconut in the Pongal gift hamper.

Coimbatore: On the occasion of the Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu government has planned to distribute a Pongal gift hamper to family cardholders with 21 varieties of items.

The Tamil Nadu government has announced that ration card holders will be given Rs 1,000 along with sugar and raw rice in the Pongal gift package on the occasion of Pongal 2023.

But this time sugarcane and jaggery did not find a place in the Pongal gift hamper of the Tamil Nadu government.

Led by Vasanthasenan, President of BJP's farmers' wing, the BJP workers who were holding sugarcane and jaggery in their hands raised slogans pressing for their demand.
