Covid-19 surveillance stepped up at Coimbatore airport, random testing of intl. passengers carried out

While the Central government has instructed to put the covid surveillance protocols into effect from tomorrow, the process of tracking passengers arriving from abroad at the Coimbatore airport has started today itself.



Coimbatore: In the wake of the rapid surge of the new variant of Coronavirus in China, the central and state governments have stepped up precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus in India.

Accordingly, surveillance has been intensified at all international airports.

A high-level meeting in this regard was held recently under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. All international air passengers arriving in India will have to be properly vaccinated, wear a mask and maintain social distancing.



Guidelines have also been issued for the thermal screening of passengers at the entrances of all international airports in India and random testing of 2% of passengers should be carried out.



Accordingly, a monitoring and testing centre for passengers arriving at Coimbatore International Airport has been opened today. Two international flights are operated from Coimbatore International Airport to Saudi Arabia in the morning and a Singapore flight in the evening.



While the Central government has directed to put the surveillance protocols into effect from tomorrow( 24th) tracking passengers arriving from abroad has been already started at Coimbatore airport from today itself.

Accordingly, the passengers who arrived on the Air Arabia flight Body were checked for body temperature Also, all passengers arriving at the airport have been advised to compulsorily follow the mask mandate
