Minister T.M. Anbarasan lays foundation stone for Industrial Park at Kittampalayam: 50,000 to get employment

Speaking at a function after laying the foundation stone for the proposed industrial estate at Kittampalayam, Minister T.M. Anbarasan said that the project, which was abandoned by the AIADMK after the change of guard in 2011, has now been revived during the DMK regime.



Coimbatore: The Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will set up the Arignar Anna Co-operative Industrial Estate at Kittampalayam in Coimbatore district on an area spread over 316.04 acres. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held today.



Tamil Nadu Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) Minister T.M. Anbarasan laid the foundation stone for the project.

According to sources, on August 30, 2021, a notification was issued and a sum of Rs.10 crore was allocated for the said industrial estate..

Subsequently, the beneficiary contribution of Rs.14.60 crores was received. With the total cost of Rs.24.61 crores the infrastructure facilities required for the Industrial Estate such as laying of roads, water connections, overhead water tanks, bore wells and construction of administrative office are to be implemented.



Speaking on the occasion, Minister T.M. Anbarasan said "that 15,000 people will be directly get employment benefits and 30,000 get indirect employment". Adding he said "this is a project, which was initiated by former minister Pongalur Palanisamy and this will become the best industrial estate in Asia.

"The project was shelved by the AIADMK after the change of government in 2011. But, it is now being revived under the DMK rule" the. Minister noted.

"Even thought In 2010, the land was allotted and the foundation stone was laid but the project didn't take off he said and added "An area of 316 acres has already been divided into 535 industrial plots and handed over to the members of the industrial estates. An estimated cost of Rs.24.60 crores has been earmarked for providing basic amenities" Minister Anbarasan said.

"The beneficiaries' contribution is Rs.14.60 crore and the government's contribution is Rs.10 crore. It is the largest industrial park in Asia. This will provide employment to more than 50,000 people, including 15,000 directly and 30,000 indirectly".

"In the case of Annur, the lands will be acquired only if the farmers willingly part with their lands to the project". the Minister noted.

District Collector Sameeran, former Minister Pongalur Palanisamy, DMK South District Secretary Thalapathy Murugesan, Karumathampatti Municipality President Nithya Manohar, Coimbatore District Industries Centre General Manager Thirumurugan, Industrial Estate Administrative Officer Sukanthi, Kittampalayam Chandrasekhar and others were present on the occasion.
