Online Rummy Controversy: Democratic Youth Federation of India in Coimbatore writes to PM seeking withdrawal of Governor R N Ravi

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists, led by District Secretary Arjun, arrived at the post office near the Coimbatore District Collectorate to send a letter to the Prime Minister seeking the withdrawal of the Tamil Nadu Governor for not giving his assent to the online rummy ban law.

Coimbatore: Even as a series of suicides took place in Tamil Nadu due to loss incurred through online rummy, a youth in Coimbatore district too ended his life by suicide after losing money that he had borrowed to play online rummy.

Therefore, various organisations and political parties have been continuously demanding a ban on the game. Demonstrations and protests are also being held at various places across the State. The Tamil Nadu Government has responded to the demands saying that the Governor has not signed to ban online rummy in the State.

The Coimbatore Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists, led by District Secretary Arjun, arrived at the post office near the Coimbatore District Collectorate to send a letter to the Prime Minister seeking the withdrawal of the Tamil Nadu Governor for not giving his assent to the online rummy ban law. They alleged that the TN Governor was equally responsible for the youth ending his life by suicide.

A tense atmosphere prevailed in the area for some time as slogans against online rummy were also raised by the protesers in front of the post office. Some SFI organisers were also present at the meeting.
