Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Prathap inspected the ongoing cleanliness works, water supply works and smart city planning works in the areas under Coimbatore Central Zone.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap inspected the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation sanitary workers' segregation and collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste on Mettupalayam Road, near Avinashilingam College, Bharathi Park Second Street, under Coimbatore Corporation Central Zone Ward No.69.

The CCMC Commissioner instructed the sanitation workers to create awareness among the public in the area to segregate the garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

Following this, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner personally inspected the drinking water tank in the area and also inspected the quality of drinking water supplied to the public.

He also reviewed the functioning of the centre for generating electricity from food waste and vegetable waste through biogas in Bharathi Park area.

Construction of a media tower at Thomas Park Junction, a bicycle track, as part of the model road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 40.07 crore under the Smart City Project in Race Course area of Central Zone, is in progress. The Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran and the Corporation Commissioner M Prathap personally inspected the site. Following this, officials were instructed to complete the works with good quality and in an expeditious manner.

Subsequently, the Commissioner of the Corporation personally inspected the ongoing Smart City Project at Valankulam which is being done at an estimated cost of Rs. 67.86 crores. He advised that useful saplings be planted in the coastal areas of Valankulam. The Corporation Commissioner M Prathap has also directed the concerned engineers to complete the construction of a dining hall and an open air meeting hall in the north bank area expeditiously.

Corporator Saravanakumar, Smart City General Manager Bhaskar, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Kanagaraj, Assistant Executive Engineers Bhuvaneswari and Sukanthi, Assistant Town Planning Officer Babu, Assistant Engineer Kamalakannan, Health Officer Ramachandran, Health Inspector Saravanakumar and Corporation officials were present during the inspections.
