'Tamil Nadu ranks 4th in Income Tax growth:' Coimbatore IT Commissioner, Ravichandran

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala's Income Tax Commissioner Ravichandran, who is inspecting the Western region stated that a special team has been constituted to collect information related to tax evasion and that the income tax evaders are being questioned online.


Coimbatore: Income Tax Commissioner Ravichandran, who is conducting inspections of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, inspected various areas in the Western region on Monday.

Later, addressing a press conference at the Income Tax office on Race Course Road in Coimbatore, Ravichandran said, "Tamil Nadu ranks fourth in the growth of Income Tax Departments at the all-India level. If there is a complaint that the excess collected tax has not been returned, we have taken extra care to rectify that complaint.

This year we have created various awareness programs for the public to ensure they pay income tax. The process of paying tax online has been simplified. After the pandemic, the tax collection slipped by 12-13 percent. But in 2021-2022, there has been an increase of 40 percent in tax collections. In 2022-2023 too, tax collections have crossed 40 percent.

A special team has been constituted to collect information related to tax evasion. Tax evaders will get caught anyway, for income tax evaders are being questioned online. The documents are also verified online. When the investigation is conducted through online mode, there is no situation where a particular officer will be investigating.

An inquiry will be conducted by any one of the officers in the country. Refusing to provide information related to income tax raids is to protect the secrets of the beneficiaries. There is a special portal facility for regular taxpayers. We have also ensured jail terms for tax evaders," reiterated Ravichandran.
