City brought under heavy security blanket; checking at vital places carried out due to Babri Masjid demolition day, observed tomorrow

Ahead of the Babri Masjid demolition day tomorrow, police conducted intensive checking at vital places including bus stands, railway stations, airports and other places in Coimbatore district to prevent any untoward incidents.



Coimbatore: Following the Babri Masjid demolition day being observed tomorrow the police have beefed up the security measures and brought the city under a heavy security blanket to avoid any eventualities.

In December 6, 1992, the Babri Masjid in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya was demolished. The incident caused a lot of tension across the country then.

Precautionary security measures are being taken across the country every year to prevent any untoward incident happening on December 6, the day of the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

Accordingly, security has been beefed up at bus stands, railway stations and airports where people gather in large numbers.



The police are carrying out intensive checking at important places including at the District Collectorate.

All the members of the public, who have come to file petitions are allowed to enter the Collectorate only after undergoing through checking. The belongings of the public are also subjected to intensive checking with modern bomb detection devices.

Similarly, checkings are being carried out inside the Collectorate as well.
