Woman robbed of 25 sovereigns of jewellery, Rs. 7 lakh cash and car in broad daylight near Vadavalli

Coimbatore: Two unidentified miscreants barged into the house of Periyasamy, the owner of a flower store in Vadavalli, Coimbatore and robbed his wife of 25 sovereigns of jewellery, Rs. 7 lakh cash and their Alto car.


Coimbatore: In broad daylight, in the city's Vadavalli area, the house of a flower store owner was looted of valuables like jewelry and cash, as well as a car.

Periyasamy hails from Madhavan Nagar area in Vadavalli, Coimbatore. He runs a flower store and lives with wife Maheshwari and school-going son.

Periyaswamy went to work on Monday morning as usual at 10 am and Maheshwari was alone at home. Suddenly two young men entered the house and threatened Maheshwari at knife-point to loot 25 pieces of jewelry, Rs.7 lakh cash kept in the bureau of the house.

The burglars reportedly told her that they had come to kill their school-going son but did not want to kill him because he was wearing an Ayyappan Mala and instead looted valuables and the car outside the house and fled the spot.

Based on the complaint filed by Periyaswamy regarding the incident, the Vadavalli police who arrived at the scene have registered a case and are investigating. The incident of two miscreants breaking into a house in broad daylight and stealing jewellery, money and a car has shocked neighbours in the area.
