Fire breaks out at scrap iron godown near Chettipalayam in Coimbatore

Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in a massive fire that broke out in an old iron godown owned by one Waseeb Raja in Chettipalayam area of Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: An old iron godown owned by one Wasif Raja is functioning near the government employees' quarters on the Pothanur-Chettipalayam road in Coimbatore district.



It is learnt that the fire broke out in the godown around 10 pm last night. The people present immediately informed the fire department.

Following this, the fire brigade rushed to the spot and disconnected the power supply and started extinguishing the fire.

The fire department fought for more than two hours and brought the fire under control. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire.

The Chettipalayam police have registered a case and are investigating the fire.
