'Wind power generation of 10,000 million units in last 8 months in TN:' Wind Power Producers Association

Every year from the month of April to October which is called the wind season, the electricity generated through wind mills constitute most of the total daily power requirement of Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore: The Central and State Governments are competing and implementing various special schemes for the development of the renewable energy generation sector.

Tamil Nadu is known for its infrastructure facilities to generate 8,500 MW of power. Every year from the month of April to October which is called the wind season, the electricity generated through wind mills constitute most of the total daily power requirement of Tamil Nadu.

Kasturi Rangaiyan, President of the Indian Wind Power Producers Association said, "Unlike in the past, people today have become more aware of the energy generation sector, including wind and solar energy. The renewable energy generation sector will play a very important role in meeting the demand for electricity in the times to come. This year's wind season began on March 15 and ended on October 31.

A total of 10,000 million units of electricity have been generated through wind mills during this year's wind season in Tamil Nadu. Also, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board received electricity properly without wasting it. The pending amount for the electricity received on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu has so far been disbursed to the power producers in two installments.

The Government has reassured that the remaining amount will continue to be disbursed. We welcome this move," stated Kasturi Rangaiyan, President of the Indian Wind Power Producers Association.
