Area Sabha meeting held under banyan tree in Coimbatore 5th ward

Councillor GV Naveen Kumar said that the Area council meeting was held under a tree like a grama sabha to inform the government that even after 10 years of joining the 5th ward, even basic facilities has not been provided for this ward.



Coimbatore: City council meetings are being held in municipal and corporation areas across Tamil Nadu as per the orders of Chief Minister M K Stalin. As a part of this, the city council meeting was held in the areas falling under the 5th ward of Coimbatore Corporation.



The meeting was attended by people from Viswasapuram, Ravenu Nagar, Senthil Nagar, Thirukumaran Nagar, Income Tax Colony, Kulanthaivel Nagar, Textool Nagar, Someshwara Nagar, Engineering Colony and other areas.



The meeting, which took place at around 10:30 a.m. under a banyan tree in Income Tax Colony Park, said, the people who participated informed in writing and verbally about the essential needs of their areas, including road connectivity, sewerage, street light, etc.



The meeting was presided over by Councillor G.V.Naveen Kumar. Corporation ward sabha secretary Manoranjitham and health inspector Gunasekaran took the lead. Moreover, city sabha representative Francis welcomed everyone.



The meeting was attended by Health Officer Ansar, DMK office bearers Kannan, Sundar, Mayilsamy, Chinnasamy, Congress party office bearers Raghuraman, Gopal, Das, Murugesan, Muruganantham, Rangasamy, Baalu, Communist Kandasamy, Komadeka office-bearers Kandasamy, Velusamy and various urban welfare organisation functionaries Amritraj, Sakthivel, Elangovan, LIC Sundaram, Vadivel, CTC Anandan and others.



The 5th ward, which has been attached to the corporation for 10 years, is like a village panchayat when it comes to basic development. Councillor GV Naveen Kumar said the city council was held under a tree like a gram sabha to convey this to the government.
