Pink ambassadors of Coimbatore to continue awareness of breast cancer amongst women.

India Turns Pink Foundation has a presence in several metropolitan cities in our country. The aim of this foundation is to ensure that India is free from breast cancer by 2030.

In order to achieve this aim, this NGO has appointed active Pink Ambassadors and volunteers in several cities who will ensure that women from all walks of life are educated about the causes, symptoms and treatment of breast cancer. Today, on World Cancer Day, India Turns Pink formally inducted its hand-picked women Pink Ambassadors in Coimbatore. This programme was hosted at the Coimbatore International Airport.

One of the Pink Ambassadors, Anusha Ravi, CEO, Park Group of Institutions said “Awareness about breast cancer is the need of the hour in India. In India, we think of treatment as an option. Now it is time to shift the focus to awareness and prevention. Through an initiative, like this we can certainly achieve the goal of a breast cancer-free society by 2030”

When city-based women entrepreneur, Ranjana Singhal of That’s Y Food took the stage, she thanked the founder of India Turns Pink, Anand Kumar for taking this much interest in fighting a trouble that impacts the opposite gender.

While all other pink ambassadors also stressed the point “Prevention is better than cure. Now that this initiative has come into being, we must all work together by reaching out to as many women as we can and we can certainly ensure a breast cancer-free society by 2030. While we work towards this goal, we must ensure that we maintain a healthy diet, ensure that we have enough of physical activity as a part of our routine and above all we must keep our levels of stress at bay.”

About 150 student volunteers of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Engineering will work as volunteers for India Turns Pink in Coimbatore. We are informed that an awareness session on diagnosing breast cancer will be hosted at the Coimbatore International Airport this Monday for the nearly 500 staff.

Speaking about this initiative being launched at the Coimbatore International Airport, Airport Director, G. Prakash Reddy said “We are happy to launch this ambitious awareness initiative at the Coimbatore International Airport. In the following week, we will educate all our women passengers about the self-examination techniques of breast cancer and this Monday we are hosting a session for our staff.”

With the Pink (women) Ambassadors who have committed to work towards this initiative, we are hoping that India is breast cancer free by 2030.
