'Jallikattu will be celebrated as a national festival', says BJP MP Tarun Vijay

Tarun Vijay, Minister of Parliament of Bharathiya Janata Party was here in the city today. He addressed the press at the Coimbatore airport. He stated that, 'Students are the sole reason for the victory in the Jallikattu issue. The students who participated in the protests for Jallikattu have safely returned home'. He also stated that the Prime Minister acted very thoughtfully and derived at an amicable solution to the long-pending Jallikattu issue.

'While, the protests were going peacefully in a Gandhian way. Some antisocial elements and left wing elements tried to divert the attention of the protestors. The politicians should have interacted with the protestors and should have removed the antisocial elements from the protest sites. It's saddening to know that the protestors have been attacked by the police. If I would have had a chance to be there, undoubtedly I would have stood by the students and participated in their protests'

Commenting on Tamil culture, the minister remarked that, “Thirukkural has been taken to all parts of the country by the BJP government. Jallikattu is not only the tradition of Tamil Nadu, but it is a tradition of India. Jallikattu will be celebrated as a national festival”.
