Miscreants attack bus carrying beneficiaries in Jodhpur ahead of PM Modi's Jaipur visit

Just hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jaipur, miscreants have attacked the bus carrying beneficiaries of the government schemes to the capital of Rajasthan.

Two persons were injured in the firing incident and have been rushed to the hospital.

The beneficiaries were on their way to Jaipur from Jaisalmer when the bus was stopped and attacked in Gangwar.

PM Modi is scheduled to meet with these beneficiaries of welfare schemes at a rally in Jaipur today.

A gathering of about 2.5 lakh beneficiaries is expected across 12 schemes run by the BJP government at the Centre and in the state.

The BJP is facing a crucial assembly election in Rajasthan later this year.

The state government has arranged 5,579 buses to bring people to the Amrudo Ka Bagh stadium in Jaipur.

The largest number of buses are planned to arrive from Alwar, Udaipur and Ajmer districts. In Jaipur district alone, 532 buses are expected to ferry the beneficiaries to the venue.

Additional Director General of Police N R K Reddy yesterday said that all security arrangements are in place for the prime minister's visit. Security drills have been conducted to eliminate any last-minute glitches.

Sensitive areas in the city are covered by CCTV cameras, and temporary control rooms will alert the field units if they spot any suspicious activity.

"We have called in 18 SPs from nearby districts. They are mainly officials who have served in the city and are aware of its topography," Reddy said.
