A large number of trees were uprooted across the city, throwing traffic movement out of gear. In Ganesh Chandra Avenue, traffic movement out of gear when a tree fell on the road. Two persons were killed when a house collapsed in Howrah.
More than a dozen people were also injured in different parts of the state after branches of trees fell on them and some in wall collapses.
The storm and rain brought down the temperature by about 7 degrees Celcius. The temperature was 32.4 degrees Celsius and after the storm the mercury down and the temperature is 25 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials said on Friday that the sky will be partly cloudy during the day and there may be several spells of rain and thundershower. The storm played havoc with the public transport system.
