The earthquake of magnitude 6.4 shook buildings in Afghanistan’s Kabul and was felt in Pakistani cities, Reuters reported.
The tremor hit at a depth of 96 km (60 miles), about 67 km (42 miles) south of the provincial capital of Khorugh, the United States Geological Survey said.
Workers left buildings in Kabul, and the Pakistani media reported the quake was felt in Islamabad, the capital, and the northwestern city of Peshawar.
Tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir, where people rushed out of buildings.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
