Coimbatore: The District Collector through a communique has stressed that all private and government organisations those with women employees should immediately form an 'Internal Complaint Committee' as prescribed by the The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
Coimbatore: The District Collector through a communique has stressed that all private and government organisations those with women employees should immediately form an 'Internal Complaint Committee' as prescribed by the The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
He has also warned that stern action would be initiated against those organisations who delay in setting up the committee. A team of officials have been deputed to ensure implementation of the same, he said through the release.
"The details of the committee and monthly reports will be notified to the District Collector's office. Any queries regarding setting up the committee can be clarified by contacting the District Social Welfare Officer in Coimbatore", the Collector noted in the release.

Internal Complaint Committee
The State and Central Governments have enacted various laws for women's safety. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a legislative act in India that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their place of work.
According to this Act, to prevent any kind of sexual harassment against women at their workplaces, a special internal complaint committee must be established at all Government and private companies to enable women report abuses.
The committee must be headed by a woman, must include two members of a renowned NGO familiar in handling such issues.
