Deviating from the past where Anganwadi workers used to collect details of pregnant women, child's age, height, weight, immunisation details and data on malnourished children in their respective areas manually and then record it in registers, the Government has now issued smartphones to Anganwadi workers with pre-loaded software which in turn is connected to a central database. The Anganwadi workers can now upload all such data online which will help the Government keep a tab of malnourished children and the work efficiency of workers. Hence, the District Collector, K Rajamani has requested the public to cooperate with the Anganwadi workers during their visit to homes to get details of family members and children under the Integrated Child Development Services' 'Poshan Abhiyaan' scheme.
In a press release, the District Collector said, "Under the Integrated Child Development Services' 'Poshan Abhiyaan' scheme, the Implementation of Coimbatore National Nutrition Group in Phase 3 has begun from September 1 which will be carried out by the project handsets given to 1800 Anganwadi employees."
"The details of the people residing in the Anganwadi centres will be entered in the handsets given to the respective Anganwadi employees. Accordingly, this family management survey will ask about the daily feeding, housing vision planning, development monitoring, home-cooked meals, vaccine details, Anganwadi Center Management, data on young women, pregnancy care and breastfeeding mothers survey and other details which will be entered in the handsets and projects will be carried out based on those details," added the Collector.
K Rajamani opined that the handset registration would enable the project to work better and requested the public to cooperate with the Anganwadi workers and make the most out of it.
