Coimbatore : Next to Chennai, TNSTC (CBE) Ltd. has introduced 50 new buses in the city, replacing the older ones to ease the discomfort of public while travelling in the city. The State Government has taken this step to progress in the transport sector in comparison to other states. The news TNSTC buses plying in the city have excellent and wide seating, special seating facility for the differently abled with ample space for those who use crutches too.

In order to create awareness among passengers on travelling in buses with proper tickets and to avoid the losses incurred to the Transport Corporation, the TNSTC (CBE) Ltd. has appointed Ticket Inspectors in all rural and town buses plying in all four zones such as Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and Ooty.

During the inspection, if any passenger is found to have not paid appropriate luggage fare, a maximum fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed according to The Motor Vehicle Act. However, to prevent ticketless travellers, inspection work is being carried out in all the buses at all main locations. Passengers alighting from the bus at their respective stops are asked to show their tickets before leaving. The TNSTC officers and Auditors also carry out inspections in separate areas allotted to them. Ticket inspection is being intensified on special occasions and festivals.

"The fine amount received from 1038 passengers in Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and Ooty from July 28 to September 16 is Rs. 2,21,223," noted Anbu Abraham, Managing Director of TNSTC, Coimbatore Division. He has further requested passengers to pay the proper fare for travel and luggage and cooperate with the Transport Corporation.

The TNSTC ticket inspectors were seen inspecting for proper tickets in a TNSTC bus, with the Assitant Manager (Trade) Vasudevan and Pollachi Regional Manager, Jothi Manikandan also present during the inspection.
