Traffic Diversion: Traffic diverted due to Vinayagar procession starting from 2 pm, today

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police has announced traffic diversions in the city for tomorrow, ahead of the Vinayagar idol processions and immersions that have been organised.

Coimbatore:  The Coimbatore City Police has announced traffic diversions in the city for tomorrow, ahead of the Vinayagar idol processions and immersions that have been organised.

On behalf of the Hindu Katchi, Hindu Munnani, Bharat Sena, Hanuman Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Vinayagar idol processions and visarjanas are being held at 1 pm tomorrow. The procession will commence from Kuniamuthur Dharmaraja Temple and will pass through the Kuniamuthur-Palakkad road and thereon the idols will be immersed at the Kuniamuthur pond.

Another procession is to begin at 2 pm from Saradha Mill Road and will merge at Sangam Street and then move on to Pollachi Road via Sundarapuram. The idols will be dissolved at the Kurichi lake in Pollachi.

Considering public safety, the city police announced the following: 

1) Owing to the Vinayagar idol processions, plying of lorries in the city has been prohibited from 1 pm to 8 pm.

2) From 2 pm onwards, all vehicles plying from Palakkad road to Ukkadam will be diverted at Kovaipudur Pirivu. The vehicles will take a left turn and reach Ashram School junction via Kulathupalayam and then take a right turn and to reach Ukkadam via Puttuveeki road. From Ukkadam, the vehicles can proceed as per destinations. 

3) From 2 pm onwards, vehicles from Ukkadam to Pollachi can move to Pollachi Road from Kurichi Pirivu to Podanur Big Bazaar Street, Rail Marriage Hall, Podanur New Bridge, G.D. Tank, Chettipalayam.

4) From 1 pm onward, vehicles from Ukkadam to Kuniamuthur and Palakkad will go to Perur bypass road to Puturuveeki road via Sethumavaikal check post and will then proceed straight to Kovaipudur Ashram School and Kulathupalayam, and from thereon will go to the desired destination.

5) Buses and other vehicles from Pollachi road will ply via Sundarapuram to Palakad road on the bypass route 1 and 7, and reach Madukkarai market. From there, it will reach Pillaiyarpuram junction and take a left to Sugunapuram to reach Palakkad road.

6) Lightweight vehicles that are heading to Pollachi from Ukkadam will be diverted from the Kurichi Junction, through Podanur, Chettipalayam towards Eachanari. From there, they can take a left turn to G.D. Tank, Podanur Pudhupalam to Kurichi pirivu and reach Ukkadam via Aathupalam.

7) Lorries and heavy freight vehicles from Pollachi to Coimbatore are not allowed inside the city and can ply only on the 17 bypass roads.

Since the processions will pass through the roads mentioned above, merchants and public are requested not to park their vehicles along the procession path and use the diverted routes to help easy flow of the processions.
