Ajitha, an 11th grade student at Vadakovai Corporation higher secondary school in Coimbatore, is taking part in this educational trip to Dubai. She enrolled at this school as a third gender (transgender) student.
Coimbatore: For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a transgender girl student from Coimbatore who won first place in the state level individual acting competition has been picked to go to Dubai for an education tour.
The Department of Education has held a number of competitions for government school pupils to demonstrate their potential outside academics. Fine arts, athletics, science, music, cultural performances, and so forth are examples.
In this regard, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Minister of School Education, declared that excellent pupils would be honored, along with the provision of an International Education tour, for the current academic year 2022-23.
As an outcome, during the academic year 2022-23, students in grades 6 to 9 in all government middle, high, and higher secondary schools were advised to participate in activities such as literature clubs, quiz competitions, juvenile film screenings, and Rainbow Clubs, which were hosted in schools on a weekly basis.
As a result, competitions were held at various levels of school, block, district, and state to recognise pupils' ability. Students chosen at the district level represented their districts at the state level competition.
State-level competition winners are chosen to participate in educational travels abroad. This tour also includes the students who won first place in the state-level art festival competition. As a result, eight children from the Coimbatore district have been chosen, including one transgender student.
Ajitha, a student in the 11th grade at Vadakovai Corporation higher secondary school in Coimbatore, is a participant in this educational journey. She registered as third gender (transgender) and has been attending this school.
Ajitha finished first at the state level in the individual performance in the Kalaithruvizha tournament, playing Kannagi from Silapathikaram.
She was chosen to travel on an educational tour to Dubai as an outcome of this.
Ajitha says she resides in Singanallur, Coimbatore, with her parents. "I came out as transgender when I was 13 years old." My parents also accepted me without hesitation. I've been interested in performing since I was a child. I've been attending this corporation school since ninth grade. I've been wearing a girl's uniform to school with transgender credentials since class eleven. I am the first transgender student in Tamil Nadu to wear a girl's uniform to school."
"I went to Odisha to compete at the national level after winning at the school, district, and state levels in the Central Government Kala Utsav competition held last January," she added. I competed at the national level and finished first. Following that, I competed in the state arts festival in February and won first place at the state level. I am honoured to be the first transgender person in Tamil Nadu to be chosen for an educational tour. Thank you to my professors and classmates for their support."
It should be noted that Ajitha received appreciation from school administrators, instructors, and her peers.
