Telegram introduces group voice chat in a unique way to mimic conference calls
Coimbatore: Last week, popular messaging service Telegram, founded by Russsian entrepreneur Pavel Durov issued a statement about future monetization plans for the rapidly growing application. Currently Telegram is the most used Chat Application in the world with 500 million users. It faces stiff competition from Whatsapp which has taken the pole position in the segment with 2 billion users. But unlike Whatsapp which is part of Facebook, Telegram is privately funded by Pavel Durov who built it keeping user privacy and data security in mind.Telegram has secrets chats, channels, groups can have more members, option to share large video files, video mages and so on.
Telegram has announced a slew of cool new features. The most talked about feature is its Group Voice chat feature that Pavel Durov class a “Hop on Hop off Conference call” has already garnered a fan following. This feature lets groups instantly turn into a voice chat room, and offers more flexibility than current voice chat features on other apps.Joining a Voice Chat is much simpler, as groups with an active voice chat show a notification bar at the top with a Join button, along with profile pictures of users currently participating, enabling you to participate in the voice chat with a single tap.Telegram brings this Voice chat to desktop with a Push to talk button which is currently unavailable on Whatsapp.

Android users now have a Floating widget for active voice chats, enabling users to engage in voice chat when they are not using the app. Another geeky new feature for Android users is an image editing option inside the app, where users can instantly edit, add comments, draw or add stickers on already shared images and share it back. Apple users received an update too, with deep integration with SIRI voice assistant, enabling it access and read incoming messages and read it out.
Some of the other features include new stickers which has 180 frames, but still under 50KB which means better animations that still load faster. Android users can now move their data from their device storage to an external memory card, and also new UI enhancements along with a a public Bug and Suggestion Platform.
Pavel Durov in a separate statement also unveiled plans for a monetization of Telegram. Stating that all the current features will continue to remain free, while adding additional paid features mostly for group admins, like paying for added admin controls,monetization of Channels and Telegrams own secure and privacy friendly advertising platform. Pavel asserted that this will ensure Telegram will remain independent.
Telegram has been free to use since it was founded in 2013, and has attracted a large number of users who are looking for alternative and added features. Telegram has been the communication app of choice for technology geeks and nerds.
