"The scientists at ISRO will continue to re-establish contact with Vikram Lander of the Chandrayaan 2 mission in the next 14 days. So, there's still hope", said ISRO Chief K. Sivan on Saturday.
Making a very positive and important announcement, a day after the descent of Vikram Lander on the Lunar surface did not go well, the Chief of ISRO made it clear that the Chandrayaan 2 setback won’t affect India’s space programme including its first manned mission, 'Gaganyaan' which has been planned for the end of 2020.
He further explained that Chandrayaan 2 was “almost 100 per cent successful” as the Orbiter tasked to carry out the science experiments was placed successfully, while the Lander and the Rover component of mission, aimed to demonstrate technology, was 90-95 % successful, he told Doordarshan.
