Google launches podcast service

Google has launched a new podcast service as part of Google Play Music.

Beginning this week, Android users in the US and Canada can now listen to podcasts like "Learn Something New" and "How to do Everything" as well as subscribe to favorite channels.

Like Google Play Music which can deliver the a selection of curated tracks depending on the user's mood and setting -- work, lounge, party, focus -- Google will make podcast recommendations based on the user's interest.

Users can spend a lazy Sunday afternoon "Getting Lost in a Story," for instance, with Radiolab or Reply All, or sneak in a much-needed laugh after a hard day with "Laughing Out Loud."

Content creators can also upload their podcasts on the dedicated Google portal.
