All Honda Cars in India to have standard dual airbags from April 2017

The Govt of India is also planning to make frontal and side impact crash tests compulsory from October 2017, and all the cars will need to have dual airbags and some other safety features to pass the crash test.

Upon Honda Amaze launch on 3rd March 2016, the company announced to offer dual SRS airbags across all its models as standard from April 2017. The Govt of India is also planning to make frontal and side impact crash tests compulsory from October 2017, and all the cars will need to have dual airbags and some other safety features to pass the crash test.

The updated Honda Amaze 2016 is also being offered with dual airbags as an option even on the base variant of the sub-compact sedan. The new Amaze is priced between Rs 5.29 lakh - Rs 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Among the leading carmakers, Maruti Suzuki India has already started offering optional airbags on almost all of its mass products including the Alto 800, Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Swift and Swift Dzire. Ford India, Volkswagen and Toyota India are among the only carmakers in India to offer dual airbags as a standard fitment even on their level cars.
