Coimbatore: The areas of Thudiyalur, Subramaniyanpalayam and Vellikinaru belonging to the Coimbatore North Zone are to be given water supply under the Amruth scheme.
Coimbatore: The areas of Thudiyalur, Subramaniyanpalayam and Vellikinaru belonging to the Coimbatore North Zone are to be given water supply under the Amruth scheme. This new project which is under work was inspected today by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner and Private Officer P Kumaravel Pandian.
Although the drinking water supply that the Coimbatore Corporation gets from Pillur Dam is sufficient, newly formed areas in Coimbatore like Thudiyalur, Vellikinaru, Chinnavedampatti, Saravanampatti, Vilankuruchi and Kalapatti have the water supply limited to 70 liters per person in a gap of 6-8 days.
With the new Amruth plan, these 6 areas in Coimbatore are going to get a more steady supply of water with a gap of two days.
Also the Corporation Commissioner inspected the new connection lines for business entities and new houses that are given from the Pillur Reservoir. The Corporation Commissioner also ordered the official to get done with the project immediately.
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner P Kumaravel Pandian also ordered the officials to close down the roads which were opened for maintenance and to quickly repair any faulty leaks pipes that needed care.
Subsequently, the Commissioner visited the Thadagam Road, Periyasamy Road, Venkatasamy Road, TP Road, Ponnurangam Road, Thiruvenkatasamy Road and observed the work of meter connection to provide drinking water 24 hours a day.
During the review, Project Engineer (24X7 Drinking Water Project) Parvathy, Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board Executive Engineer Vivekanandam, Assistant Executive Engineer Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board Vijayalakshmi and Corporation officials were present.
