Heavy Rains Halt Nilgiri Mountain Railway Services Till November 10

Coimbatore: Train services on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) have been cancelled on November 8, 9 and 10 following heavy rains that triggered landslips and brought down boulders and trees onto the railway tracks at several locations in the Nilgiris.

Railway personnel are engaged in restoration work despite the challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. However, the extensive obstructions along the tracks have delayed the restoration efforts.

Train No. 56136 (Mettupalayam–Udhagamandalam) and Train No. 56137 (Udhagamandalam–Mettupalayam), scheduled for November 8, 9 and 10, have been cancelled. The special train services, Train No. 06171 from Mettupalayam to Udhagamandalam on November 8 and Train No. 06172 from Udhagamandalam to Mettupalayam on November 9, have also been cancelled.
