Coimbatore: Southern Railway has withdrawn the changes announced earlier in the operation of three express trains after cancelling the proposed Sleeper Renewal and Track Maintenance Engineering Works in the Erode–Karur section.
According to an official release issued by the Salem Division of Southern Railway on November 6, the engineering works scheduled to be carried out on November 7 and 10, 2026, have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Consequently, the changes announced earlier in the operation of three trains on these dates have been withdrawn, and all three services will operate as per their regular schedules without any alterations.
Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express, which departs from Sengottai at 5.20 am, will operate up to Erode Junction as usual on November 7 and 10. The train will not be short-terminated at Karur Junction, as announced earlier.
Similarly, Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express, which departs from Palakkad Town at 6.30 am, will operate up to Tiruchchirappalli Junction as per its regular schedule on both days. The train will not be short-terminated at Kodumudi Railway Station, located between Erode and Pugalur railway stations.
Meanwhile, Train No. 16322 Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express, scheduled to depart from Coimbatore Junction at 8 am, will operate on its regular route via Tiruppur, Erode and Karur on November 7 and 10. The earlier announcement regarding its diversion between Coimbatore and Dindigul has also been withdrawn.
With the cancellation of the proposed engineering works, all three trains will run without any changes to their regular routes or destinations on the specified dates, Southern Railway officials said.
