Coimbatore: Sitharanjan, a student of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, has been selected to represent India in the long jump event at the BIMSTEC Under-23 Athletics Championship.
The championship will see athletes from the seven BIMSTEC member countries — India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar — competing against each other. A total of 95 athletes will represent India across various athletics disciplines at the event.
Sitharanjan's selection for the championship came on the basis of his performances at the 6th Indian Under-23 Athletics Championships, held in Jaipur from October 16 to 18, and the 41st National Junior Athletics Championships, held in Chennai from October 23 to 27.
The BIMSTEC championship itself will be held from November 25 to 27 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Dr. Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, and Dr. P. L. Sivakumar, Principal and Secretary of the college, congratulated Sitharanjan on his selection and wished him success in the championship.
