As part of its ongoing anti dengue drive, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has launched a new initiative across all wards to remove plastic waste and discarded items that could become breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes that spread dengue. During the drive titled ‘Adhiradi Saravedi’ in the South Zone, Corporation staff in Ward 78 removed large quantities of discarded tyres, plastic containers, coconut shells and other waste items from residential areas and establishments. The Corporation has urged residents to clean their surroundings regularly and dispose of such items properly to prevent mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of dengue.
