Two Tirupur knitwear company owners die as car collides with parked container truck in Walayar

The owners of the Tirupur knitwear companies were crushed to death in the tragic collision near the Walayar RTO check post, while their friends in the backseat of the car escaped with injuries.


Tirupur: In a tragic turn of events, two knitwear company owners from Tirupur were crushed to death when their car collided with a container truck stationed near the Walayar RTO check post.

Balaji and Murugesan, both residents of Anna Nagar in Koothampalayam in Tirupur, own knitwear companies in Tirupur. They had reportedly met with foreign investors for their companies over the past two days and had gone to the airport along with two other friends to bid goodbye to the investors at Neduvanchery in Cochin, Kerala.



Balaji, Murugesan and their friends Badruddin and Mynudeen were driving back to Tirupur in their car and when they reached the Walayar RTO check post, the car rammed into a container truck parked on the side of the road. The front portion of the car was completely damaged in the collision and Balaji and Murugesan were crushed to death on the spot. While Badruddin sustained serious injuries, Mynudeen escaped with minor injuries.

The public and check post staff at the spot rescued the friends. Badruddin has been admitted to a Palakkad hospital with serious injuries.

The bodies of both Balaji and Murugesan have been kept at the Palakkad hospital for postmortem. The Walayar police are investigating the accident and preliminary investigations revealed that the driver had lost control of the car and collided with the stationed container truck.
