CODISSIA meets delegates of Naval Head Quarters, New Delhi and Southern Naval Command from Kochi

The delegates from Naval Head Quarters, New Delhi, and Southern Naval Command from Kochi gathered here at CODISSIA on Monday, 14th of March, in which the CODISSIA President briefed about the MoU signed with Naval Ship Repair Yard, Kochi, Indian Navy, and 5 BRD, Indian Airforce for indigenization of products required by them and the subsequent arrangements of vendor meets conducted for the benefit of member industries.


Coimbatore: The delegates from Naval Head Quarters, New Delhi, and Southern Naval Command from Kochi gathered here at CODISSIA on Monday, 14th of March, in which the CODISSIA President briefed about the MoU signed with Naval Ship Repair Yard, Kochi, Indian Navy, and 5 BRD, Indian Airforce for indigenization of products required by them and the subsequent arrangements of vendor meets conducted for the benefit of member industries.



CODISSIA President M.V. Ramesh Babu informed that as part of the growing interest of Armed Forces in Coimbatore and the consistent efforts of CODISSIA in the field of "high quality indigenous" manufacturing, the Apex body for Indigenisation and Modernisation in the Indian Navy were present for the interaction. He also briefed about the MoU signed with Naval Ship Repair Yard, Kochi, Indian Navy, and 5 BRD, Indian Airforce for indigenization of products required by them and the subsequent arrangements of vendor meets conducted for the benefit of member industries.

CODISSIA and Southern Naval Command jointly have taken various initiatives for bridging the gap between Defence and the industries.

V. Sundaram, Director, CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre (CDIIC) addressed the gathering and updated on the progress made by CDIIC for start-ups and indigenization. CDIIC and the Aircraft and Engine Holding Unit (A & EHU), Southern Naval Command have been working together towards identifying products required by the Indian Navy, for indigenous development. The joint efforts have resulted in the identification and taking up of five products by the Member Industries of CODISSIA.

Rear Admiral K. Srinivas, Asst. Chief of Material (Modernisation), Naval Head Quarters, New Delhi, in his speech, briefed about the various opportunities available in Indian Navy for supplying their requirement and the appropriate procedure for the same. He appreciated CODISSIA and CDIIC’s efforts to establish India’s First Defence Innovation Hub and informed that the Naval Head Quarters, New Delhi is taking efforts to establish a full-fledged indigenization cell at Coimbatore to speed up the Naval Indigenisation activities in this region covering Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra.

Presentation on CODISSIA and CDIIC was displayed and viewed by the participants. More than 25 industries participated in this interaction and a subsequent factory visit has been arranged to Elgi Sauer Compressor, L&T Valves, Amar Metering Pumps, L&W, Mac Controls on 15th March 2022 to understand Coimbatore's capability in defense manufacturing.

David, A&EHU, Lt. Cdr. C S Ruben were present during the interaction.
