Coimbatore: Karthik Chidambaram, Sivaganga MP addressing the press at Coimbatore demanded an explanation from the External Affairs Minister asking why are the north Indian students in Ukraine are prioritized.
'The External Affairs Minister should explain issue of prioritising the North Indian students returning from Ukraine', Karthik Chidambaram questioned.
Sivaganga MP Karthik Chidambaram addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport said that the DMK-led government had been doing well and ruling with transparency. Adding that the opinion poll in the 5 states cannot be taken as the final call, he said the BJP did not win the elections in West Bengal last time, while the opinion polls pointed their victory.
'Students who have returned to Tamil Nadu from Ukraine will definitely be affected in their education. There are 30 people from Sivaganga district. But only 13 have come home so far.' Karthik added that students who are halfway through medical studies will now be unable to pursue studies there, while the possibilities of enrolling them in TN are less. He demanded the centre to take necessary steps if their education shall be continued in any other country.
He said the loan of the medical students who have returned home should be cancelled or postponed. He said that Russia’s say has not been heard, while only Ukraine side of the news is published.
He added that Russia had some reason to wage war and the country does not want NATO missiles to come to Russia. He wanted an immediate look into the issue where a Coimbatore-based youth is now fighting in the Ukrainian Army. He mentioned that if an Islamic student had joined a different country's army, he would have been termed Jihadi. Stating that Ukraine is a white country he added that having a different opinion should not be encouraged.
'It is unacceptable for the student to fight against Russia along with Ukraine.' He said.
Karthik also stated that AIADMK has been facing only defeats without Sasikala and the vote bank remains stagnant. Karthik said that if the party does not compromise for a single leadership, there will be problems, and dual leadership will not prosper.
“The External Affairs Minister should explain the issue of prioritising the North Indian students in rescue operations. We will ask about it in Parliament and we will ask for an explanation in writing.”
He alleged that this government is not capable of running the economy and it is wrong to sell profitable public companies. He said that the Indian companies are sold only to two groups.
He finally stated that although Congress had won only a few seats, it does not convey that there is no proper leadership or courage in the party.
